With the new fall weather conditions, it's important to know how exactly your bike is going to be affected. Here are a few fall riding tips so that you can keep riding right till the end of the season.
#1 Dry and wet leaves
They can be very hazardous to riders. Dry leaves tend to pile of on the road and can prevent you from seeing potholes or other inconsistencies. Rain or morning dew will cause the leaves to absorb the water creating a very slick surface. This has the potential to cause your bike to slip.
#2 Stay alert for deer
Deer are very active in the fall. This is because in the spring all the babies are being born and by September, they are all in their adolescents. Come the fall they are out wondering on their own exploring their surroundings...leading to many collisions with cars and motorcycles. Be aware of your surroundings and always scan the roadside, especially in rural areas.
#3 Awareness of frost
Due to the cold fall nights, morning frost in inevitable. Be aware of the temperature before you set out in the morning and stay clear of shaded areas. Shade prevents the sun from melting the frost causing it to linger for longer than we’d like.
